- Q: Who is sponsoring The Food Effect campaign with funding?
- A: The North Carolina Pork Council (NCPC), representing the approximately 46,000 North Carolinians working in the pork industry.
- Q: What share of the burden do the Feeding America Food Banks currently carry in the fight against hunger in North Carolina?
- A: The Feeding America organization is by far the main source of food for North Carolina’s hunger-relief agencies. The banks provide 75% of the food used in emergency pantries, 47% of that used through soup kitchens and 42% of the food provided at emergency shelters.
- Q: Is my gift tax deductible?
- A: All donations to the Feeding America Food Banks are tax-deductible. The Food Effect is a partnership of the seven non-profit organizations that comprise the North Carolina Association of Feeding America Food Banks. Food banks use donations to help provide nutritious meals to children in North Carolina.
- Q: Where does my money go?
- A: Your donation goes directly to the food relief organization in your area (unless you specify a different area in the state) through one of the state’s Feeding America food banks.
- Q: How far does my money go?
- A: The food banks that comprise the NC Association of Feeding America Food Banks are able to leverage corporate donations, food donations by merchants and the work of volunteers so that every dollar donated provides the equivalent of at least seven dollars’ worth of food.
- Q: Can I make a donation by phone or mail?
- A: Of course! To donate by mail, you can print the donation form in the Action Center and mail it to your local member organization. To donate by phone, simply call your local member organization.
